Are you been wondering why everyone’s taking up the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge? Well here is everything that you need to know!!
What is ALS Ice Bucket Challenge?
The challenge is to dump a bucket full of ice water over your head and nominate three other people to accept the challenge or else you need to donate $100 for the ALS Association.
Rules: Within 24 hours of being challenged, participants are to video record themselves in continuous footage. First, they are to announce their acceptance of the challenge followed by pouring ice into a bucket of water. The bucket is then to be lifted overhead and poured over the participant’s head. Then the participant can call out a challenge to other people.
The participant is expected to dump the ice water over their head and donate $100 if they have not.
What is the purpose of doing this?
This Challenge is to spread ALS awareness via social media and fund it to make the cure for this disease! And this challenge hit the internet like a Storm and went VIRAL. Like everyone (including me) is taking the challenge to spread the awareness and this is what ALS need to raise their funds!! The ALS Association announced it has surpassed $10 million in “Ice Bucket” donations.
What is ALS?
The ALS Association is the only national non-profit organization fighting Lou Gehrig’s Disease on every front. By leading the way in global research, providing assistance for people with ALS through a nationwide network of chapters, coordinating multidisciplinary care through certified clinical care centers, and fostering government partnerships, The Association builds hope and enhances quality of life while aggressively searching for new treatments and a cure.
The ALS Association says it started seeing an unexplained uptick in donations on July 29, and on Aug. 4, it was clear something was really taking off. The organization said Monday that it’s received more than $15 million from existing donors and 307,598 new donors. Nancy Frates said her family has received emails from other smaller ALS groups who have said their donations are also up. “Everyone is being made aware of this disease and the reality of it”.
I hope , this type of awareness to the disease is the right way to raise the funds for the cure! I am proud to say that i have taken the ice bucket challenge and now its my turn spread the news over the internet! I wish they raise even more funds all over the world and find the cure!!
